Halla is fifty and an independent woman. Known under the code name "The Woman of the Mountain," she attacks the local aluminum industry. Using vandalism and even industrial sabotage, she succeeds in stopping negotiations between the Icelandic government and an international investor. But then she learns that her application to adopt a child has finally been accepted. She plans her last and boldest operation as the savior of the Highlands.
Benedikt Erlingsson already attracted international attention with his brilliantly quirky feature film debut "Of Horses and Men." The Icelandic director follows up with a comedy that is as humorous as it is politically sharp-tongued. The staging of the barren expanses of Iceland is beguiling, the involvement of the film musicians is terrific, and the lead actress Halldóra Geirharðsdóttir is a force to be reckoned with.
