In industrialized countries, buildings are responsible for around 40% of all CO2 emissions. Heating and cooling buildings is just one aspect of this. Most emissions are generated during construction.
CO2 neutrality would also be feasible in the construction industry, as director Beat Häner shows. But it is not enough to just replace the fuels and building materials to achieve this goal. The question is: can we as a society manage to ensure that value creation no longer goes hand in hand with resource consumption?
The film follows pioneers who show how it could work. "From my point of view," says engineer Nico Ros in the film, "it is not a technical problem, but a purely social one. If society decides that we want incentive taxes on construction, then change will come and the construction industry will adapt."
